Traditional Cornbread

From Jennifer’s recipe
Makes 1 5×7 pan

Ingredients

  • 2 cups plain cornmeal
  • ¼ cup plain flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • ½ tsp salt
  • egg

Directions

  1. Set oven to 425 F
  2. Butter a 5×7 pan with either vegetable oil or bacon grease, dust with cornmeal, bake the pan for 10 min.
  3. Meanwhile, beat together all the ingredients.
  4. Pour batter into greased pan and bake for 25-30 minutes
